What makes a great guided goose hunt in New Jersey? Our clients all seem to recognize the importance of polite & courteous guides, quality equipment-blinds & decoys by Avery Outdoors & Greenhead Gear, communication, follow-up, flexibility, safety, a hard working retriever and lots of birds. We don't always shoot our limits of birds, but we share a lot of great hunting memories, lots of laughs and just some awesome days afield with literally thousands of Canada Geese.

Goose hunting in New Jersey is becoming increasingly popular and StormOutfitters has the expertise to make your hunt a success.  In fact, our guides are affiliated as ProStaff members with leaders in the waterfowling industry including: Avery Outdoors, Greenhead Gear, and Zink Calls.

We invite you to join our waterfowl chat forum, "The Storm Forum".  This waterfowl discussion forum intergrates members of the waterfowl community in an effort to share great information, hunting reports from across the country, wildlife photograhy and other informative waterfowl related topics.  You must be a member to view the forum, so join today, its simple!

Storm and Twister accompany us on all of our New Jersey Goose hunts.  I believe our dogs show our clients the value of a highly trained hunting retriever. We have dedicated ourselves to the spirit of waterfowl hunting, retriever training and goose hunting in New Jersey.  We look forward to another highly successful season in 2008/09. On behalf of the entire Storm Crew - we offer our sincere thanks for your business!

* We dedicate the 2008-09 season and all future seasons to our matriarch "Storm" MHR Atwater Seaglass N The Storm MH who we retired this year due to illness.  Storm's career spanned nine spectacular years and of course, was the inspiration for our guide business.  Over the years she delivered countless birds and enjoyed her days in the field with all of our clients.  She retrieved with grace, dignity and style.

NOTICE!  Our business is growing rapidly and we will do everything possible to accommodate your date requests - However, if you are interested in booking hunts for the 2008-09 season - BOOK NOW!  Our preferred dates move rapidly.  If you are looking for snow goose opportunites - December is the time amd we offer these hunts along with our Canada goose hunts.

Latest News
September birds (Hunting Reports)

Well, the season will soon be upon us!  Now with grad school over and done with, I can actually concentrate more on waterfowling@!  It looks like the next several weeks coming up will give up temps in the mid 80's which really isnt too bad.

I am getting a LOT of calls for Sept hunts - remember Sept birds are VERY unpredictable!  VERY - it seems like we either hit a homerun, scatch out a few or go home completely empty handed during Sept as the many variables including heat, crops and bird numbers seem to change on a day to day basis.  Still we do our best for our clients.  Fields are limited compared to Nov and Dec, so even with the liberal limits in Sept, unless I have a real strong field - I do not like to book for Sept.  What I will do is take reservations but I do not require deposits for Sept.  If I have a hot field, I go down the list and make the calls for guys who may be interested.  Again - these are WILD birds, so there are no gaurantee for opportunites, but we do our best because we want our clients to return.

If you want a better opportunity for succes - book a Nov or Dec hunt.   If you book during the month of Aug - we will give a 10% discount and honor our 2007 hunt prices at $200/gun.  After Sept 1 - prices are $225/gun.

What are the season predications? - Looks like another banner year for birds and we are awaiting the final regs from Fish and Game - due the end of Aug!

Stormy (Hunting Reports)

It is with great sadness that we advise of the passing of the matriarch of StormOutfitters.  On July 26, 2008, due to complications from Osteosarcoma, MHR Atwater Seaglass N The Storm MH  “Stormy” was laid to rest.  She will be deeply missed by our family and by all of our friends and clients who had the honor to have hunted with her.

She delivered without question and without fail.  Stormy was by many accounts, the “Perfect Storm”.  She embodied the spirit of a great hunting retriever.  She retrieved with style, grace and beauty.

While writing this, I recognize that she is responsible for most of the friendships that I have developed over the last decade.  I can never repay her for that.  Stormy was the constant protector of our home and family.  She was unbelievably intelligent and made me as her trainer and handler, look much better than I really could ever hope to be.  She could read me instinctively in the field and together we worked as a great team.  She loved most to duck hunt, but often would refuse a photo opportunity for want of a belly rub or a scratch behind the ear.   She had impeccable patience and blind manners, took casts on blind retrieves without question and took the most perfect of lines.

Stormy protected her pile of birds from all canines who dared to think they could taste a sniff.  She was no match for any goose on land or water and was the nemesis of groundhogs across the state.

Most importantly, she was my best friend.  She will be deeply missed.

Three Day Throw Down (Hunting Reports)

Well, the last three days of goose hunting have treated us very well. We have the honkers and the weather has cooperated in terms of wind and clouds. We had guys from North Jersey, fly-in from South Carolina and a group with a 10 year old boy - Greg "The G-MAN" Moses for collecting his first honker!  Your parents should be proud!  Each or our groups were just a great group of people and we had a great time in the field!

The Rodgers group speaks a little funny - but shot well!

Today we shot honkers as big as whales! To say the least, it has been on heck of a great end to a week long hunting adventure.

Honkers hit the Sept corn!

I want to thank those who made it possible - StormOutfitter guides Dave LoBouno and Larry VanKirk thanks for your scouting tips and as always, your assistance in the field - your help is greatly appreciated! LVK for treating our clients as number one and giving me a reason to laugh when we had two decoys take on friendly fire!

The "G-Man" put the boots to this big gander!

The dogs?  Storm and Twister performed wonderfully - As always, Storm was a shining star with a couple BIG retrieves on honkers!

All of our hunts are not like these in terms of fast birds - but for certain, this was a "Three Day ThrowDown!"

Birds the Move! (Hunting Reports)

With lots of high flyers this morning, I was more than a little nervous at our prespects.  Many migratory birds moving sout with the approaching front and other birds shifting between fields.  Wayne, Mark, Dave and I put together a nice pile of honkers for the first day of the 2nd split.

After making some BIG retrieves - Ive got a very, very tired old dog and a long week ahead for both Storm and Twister!  Ole floppy ears Storm dog brings a fat honker to hand.

Second Split - Fowl Weather -Let the games begin! (Hunting Reports)

Well, tomorrow morning starts the second split for Canada geese and we have good numbers here in Central Jersey right now.  The semi-promise made by the local weather professionals calls for snow and decreased temperatures in the coming week.  Snow cover will make hunting conditions fun to say the least.

There are good numbers of snow geese in our area right now, but they are targeting corn while the Canadas are targeting soy and grass fields.  This will make setting up a combined rig a challenge.  Our first hunt of the second split will be Saturday and we will be going full force till the end of the year.

Ducks have been on again - off again.  With the coming cold weather, I predict, similar to past years that the shooting will ramp up high-just about the time that the season closes!

Stay tuned!

Thanksgiving 360 (Hunting Reports)

Varied wind and cloud cover produces a series of diferent hunt conditions.  With a south wind, clouds, overcast and good wind speeds, Wednesday produced a nice bunch of honkers for the Gary Allen party.  Thursday hunt with Franky T and the boys produced a few less birds, (primarily due to shooting ability), Friday we had good wiind out of the North and Tom I and crew put together a nice string of honers while yesterday's hunt with little wind and the passing of a cold front that pushed birds south, really put a damper on things - overall a decent first split, but if the weather holds, I'll predict even better things in December!

Migration from the South? (Hunting Reports)

Craig M and his group, including Paul, who flew in from Key West Florida joined us yesterday for a nice hunt.  There was no shortage of geese, although most of the thousands in the area keyed in on one X field and we had difficulty pulling birds off the almost constant influx of honkers - and then all was quiet at 10:30am till their return to roost.  Hunting looks to be very good in the Central and North sections of the State and we are fast approaching our very busy season!

Ducks have been surprisingly scarce in terms of numbers, which is s a surprise given the below normal temperatures.  There are still some wood ducks and teal around, but from what I can see - big duck numbers are not what they should be.  As always, this will change with differnt fronts and we are hoping for the best.

If you have interest in goose hunts - we still have dates available for the last two weeks of December - NOW IS THE TIME TO BOOK!
